This Month: Nine Days Until Bloom Day
A note from Shanae
Bloom family,
October always arrives with its calendar already full. The days shorten, the year starts moving faster than you'd like, and for a lot of women in midlife, that shows up as a familiar mix of excitement and depletion at the same time. You're not imagining that. You're also not required to fix it by overhauling your entire life.
This month I want to give you something smaller than that, and something bigger than that, at the same time. The smaller thing is one promise you can actually keep. The bigger thing is Bloom Day, nine days from when this letter lands in your inbox, and I want you there.
With warmth, Shanae

Hormone Health
Your body isn't failing you
Changes in energy, sleep, mood, muscle, recovery, appetite, and stress tolerance can all feel like something has gone wrong. Usually it hasn't. It's information. Estrogen and progesterone touch nearly every system involved in how you feel day to day, so when they shift, you feel it everywhere at once, not in one tidy symptom you can point to.
That's not a reason to disappear or settle for feeling depleted. It's a reason to get more specific about what your body is asking for right now, this season, not the version of you from ten years ago.
This week, try: naming one thing your body has been asking for that you've been ignoring. Not fixing it yet. Just naming it.

Nourish
Build the plate, not the rule
Skip the all-or-nothing food rules this month. Build instead. Start with protein, add color and fiber, include a carbohydrate that actually satisfies you, and don't skip the fat. That's the whole method. Nourishment is what steadies your energy, not what restricts it.
If you only change one meal this week, make it breakfast. Protein and something with color, first thing, sets the tone for the rest of your day.

Move & Restore: One Promise, Not Ten Habits
You don't need a new routine. You need one promise you can actually keep to yourself, this week, on your real schedule, not your ideal one.
Maybe it's water before coffee. Maybe it's a ten-minute walk after lunch three days this week. Maybe it's finally booking the appointment you've been putting off. Pick one. Small promises kept build something bigger than the habit itself: they build trust with yourself. That trust is what actually changes how you move through midlife.

Mindset
A gentle pause
If you've felt off track lately, try this. Pause, and let go of doing this perfectly. Notice what your body needs more of, and what it needs less of. Choose one supportive action you can repeat this week, not your best week, your real one. Repeat it, even on the busy days.
This week's prompt: What would feeling well supported look like for you this month? Let that answer guide you, not a list of ten things you think you should be doing.

Before You Go
Bloom Day is nine days out
This is the part of the letter I've been waiting to write all month. Bloom Day 2026 is part wellness lab, part live show, part afternoon out with women who get it. Not a conference, not a wellness fair.
Here's what that actually looks like: you check in and pick your petal pin, then stamp your Bloom Passport at all four zones, Nourish, Restore, Strengthen, Connect. Stamp all four by 6:15 PM and you're entered in a bonus raffle with a Bloom Day only discount code attached. At 4:15 you're in the Hot Seat crowd watching anonymous questions land on a screen, no raised hands, followed by the Myth Round: paddles up, true or false, ten seconds, no hedging. There's a scent bar, a build-your-own tasting flight, a grip-strength leaderboard banded by decade, a photo arch, and 350 sealed totes with contents nobody's publishing before check-in.
Dr. Leita J. Harris, a board-certified gynecologist focused on menopause and hormone health, joins me for a fireside conversation, and Dr. Niedha Iota Welch, a licensed marriage and family therapist, is part of the live Q&A panel. Both are donating their time because this conversation matters to them too. Bloom Day is also part of Blue Zones Week, in partnership with Blue Zones Project Palm Springs, with NBC covering the event.
When: Sunday, October 18, 2026, 3–7 PM
Where: The Pavilion at Sunrise Park, 401 S Pavilion Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262
Cost: Free. 350 spots, RSVP required, tied to those 350 sealed totes, gone when they're gone
Don't miss: the Hot Seat's Myth Round at 4:15 PM, plus my keynote, "You Are Not Declining, You Are Blooming," at 3:45 PM
Bring a friend. Bring your daughter. Bring the neighbor who keeps saying she's fine. Post your petal pin or your passport stamps and tag #BloomDay2026, we're building a live wall out of everyone who shows up.

One Last Thing
Pass this on.
If this letter helped you, forward it to one woman who needs it. That is how this community grows: one woman telling another the thing nobody told her.
You are not declining. You are blooming.
